Chinatown

Today, we went to Chinatown. We were very excited because we were going to eat Chinese foodfor lunch, so even though the tour was very good, we all wanted it to end, so that we could get to a Chinese restaurant for Dim Sum. However, I like history, so it was great to learn about the history of the Chinese people in early Canada.

It made me proud of what my people helped build. We had read the book The White Jade Tiger, so we had gone on the White Jade Tiger tour, so along with learning the history of the people, we also got to follow in Jasmine’s footsteps, which was cool as well.

We saw some ancient Chinese buildings, and walked through a very narrow lane, called Fan Tan, because of all the Fan Tan gambling that took place there years ago, and our guide also taught us how to play Fan Tan as well. Another thing that was very good about this tour was that the guide gave us individual headphones, so that we could clearly hear everything he said, so it was very easy to pay attention and learn lots of new things. I really enjoyed this tour.
