Butchart Gardens Tour

Today, we went to Butchart Gardens, and I loved it, because the the views were just like the poster. All the gardens were so different and so lovely.

Also, we had planned an activity, whereby, we would interview people throughout the day. I was very nervous about this activity. To be honest, I wasn’t looking forward to it at all, but we had been practicing in class how to initiate conversations with different types of people, and now we had the opportunity to practice in real life. The surprising thing was that Linda and I interviewed an American family and they were so nice. They didn’t just answer our questions, they asked us lots of questions too.

They were very interested in our lives and Hong Kong. It was so cool. I’d like to say thank you to them because they made this project so special. I also interviewed many other people from different countries, and everyone was nice and helpful. In the end, it was a great experience and it really improved my speaking confidence. I was afraid that maybe other people wouldn’t be able to understand me, but they could not only understand me, they asked me questions back, and I understood them too.

This was a real highlight, because even though before I had been talking lots to my friends, Mimi, Eric, their friends, tour guides, store clerks etc.. this was the first time that had naturally started conversations with total strangers. I was so happy when I came home tonight.
