Hiking

After going home and unpacking all our groceries, we headed out for a hike. And given that we had eaten so much food at Costco, we decided that a hike would be a great thing. First, we drove to Mount Tolmie lookout just to see the view, and then we drove to the base of Mount Doug to start our hike. You seriously can’t imagine just how beautiful Canada's mountains are. They are more beautiful than you can imagine.

Victoria does not have any high buildings to obscure its pristine views. And another amazing thing is that the air is so fresh. Our hike up Mount Doug was a REAL hike. The people have not built any stairs. Instead we had to use the rocks to climb. We had to help and care for each as we climbed. This was our first lesson in real teamwork. I want to thank Mimi and Eric for teaching us climbing skills to help keep up safe. I can’t believe that on my first day, I have already learned so many new things. Even though this hike was hard for us, we had a lot of fun working as a team and the views along the way and at the top of Mount Doug were priceless. We could the see for 360 degrees. From on the top of Mount Doug, we could easily see the USA as well as all of Victoria, and I’ve saved the best for last, we could all of Cordova Bay – our new home. It was absolutely stunning.
